Mouse only updates when clicked?

Hi

I try to install a Windows NT on VMWare workstation 5.0.0 running on a
Windows 2000. when installing the mouse only updates the mouse pointer when
clicking the mous and this makes it difficult to work with the installation,
even after the installation is finished and I install SP6a the mouse is
still not working.

Is there anybody who has a hint on what to do?
