unable to shrink, get "unable to write to a wiper file"

Hi,

I'm running vmware workstation 5.5RC (I also tried 5.0, same errors) on
Windows XP. I have FC4 linux as guest. Inside FC4, I ran
vmware-toolbox as root, and try to shrink /, but I got "unable to write
to a wiper file".

Can anyone help me on this?
