I read in this group that some people had the following problems:
1. Error 1075 when starting VMWare DHCP Service
2. VMWare Ethernet Adapters have the "Media Disconnected" State
Unfortunately, there was no solution posted here. As I had the same
problem, I solved it by researching the newsgroups.
It is a following failure which is caused by "one" invalid registry
value in the windows registry. It has a lot of side effects, for
example problems when try to install new devices (drivers are not
listed or found).
How to fix the problem:
1. Open regedit.exe
2. Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
3. Take a look to the Valuetype of "DevicePath".
It should be REG_EXPAND_SZ, but it probably will be a REG_SZ.
4. Rename this value to "_DevicePath" for example.
5. Create a new REG_EXPAND_SZ value and name it "DevicePath"
6. Copy the content of the old value into the new one.
7. Restart the system
8. After restart, open the properties of one of the vmware network
adapters.
9. Click on Install, select "Service" and click on Add.
10. Add VMware Bridge Protocol.
11. Disconnect State will change into connect.
12. Start the VMWare DHCP Service manual.
I hope this helps all people having this problem.
