We are seeking a VMware Migration Consultant for our Professional
Services team. In this role you will be responsible for assisting with
the planning and execution of a Physical to Virtual (P2V) Server
Migration.
Tasks/Requirements:
Qualified candidates must possess the skills/experience necessary to
successfully perform the following tasks:
Migration Server - install, configure and test:
* Create a virtual machine to run migration job
* Install and configure PlateSpin migration tools
* Test Migration tool on non-production physical machine
* Train Client staff on migration tools
Migration Move Groups:
* Finalize Physical Server Move group's documentation
* Send out move group schedules to business areas
* Communicate to server owners
Physical to Virtual Server Migrations:
* Utilize migration tools to perform the migration of the physical
servers in multiple site environments.
* Remove any unneeded services from virtual machine instances
* Validate functionality of all migrated servers
* Complete server migration checklist for each of the servers migrated
* Decommission physical servers (Power Down)
* Final Decommission of physical servers
* Remove from rack
* Put in holding area
* Get sign off from server owner
