vmware trying to install dual boot

Hello I got the trial vmware esx cd yesterday. Does anytone know if I can install vmware on a separate hard drive without breaking my windows 7? or should I remove my hard drives bere installing vmware? I thought I could disable the sata controller on the bios but that is not an option on my intel dp965lt motherboard. I am planning on getting certified on vmware and want to play around with it a little bet. Any sugestions appreciated.

Hello guys. I gave up on the dual boot. I was surprise to see that I could install esxi in usb stick but the best setup I found was to run esxi on vmware player. Works great.
