Hi All,

Can we install ESX on Ubuntu just like we install KVM on Ubuntu. If possible can anyone please provide the link or provide steps to install ESX on Ubuntu VM.

Thanks in advance,
Sateesh B.

No, Sateesh B., you can't. ESX replaces any other operating system on
the box. It is not a drop-in thingy like KVM is.

Regards,
Werner

You do it the other way around. You install ESXi on your server. Your
server must be bare metal and it should support RAID1, specs are on the
VMware site, along with installation guides.

Once you have the ESX host up and running you can create VMs and install
Ubuntu onto those VMs.

You also need to rethink how you deploy Ubuntu servers as VMs. You can get
better performance by installing several specialist VMs (database, web,
DNS/DHCP, LDAP etc) rather than having one Ubuntu server that does
everything.

Yes, You can do this with nested virtualization. Install VMware workstation on Ubuntu. In VMware workstation, create a VM and install ESX on it. This is just for learning ESX not for real time use.
