Are there any compatibility problems with view 4.6, if so do you know
when the next release will be.

No, 4.5 clients work fine with 4.6 servers and desktops.

Thanks for the super swift response.

I'm unable to connect with the server, I've made sure I've got all the
packages and I can authenticate and select the pool. Just it stops at
when you connect (timeouts).

Any help with the below would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

This sounds like a routing/firewall problem; can you route directly from your client to the remote desktop IP? Your server might need the to enable connection tunneling for the connection to work.

All,

Please review the new port requirements for PC-over-IP. There is a new port you need to open and may need to change the direct connect settings for 4.6. I have updated several environments the past month and sall is working well now with port changes. Clso, iPad app for View is awesome!!!!!!!!

Hi all,

there is an elder post in this group that says VMware Open View Client
is not capable of PCoIP. Is this still correct? Accounting the answer
of Jacob below now the current client supports PCoIP protocoll as
well???

If so, are there any special compilation options to activate PCoIP.
If not, one cannot really say that Open Client is fully compatible to
4.6... or did I miss something?

BTW: If there's still no PCoIP-support: Is there any chance it will be
ever integrated (as there used to be a licence issue)?

Thanks for some clearance & regards,
jomann.

yes; specifically, the open client does not include support for PCoIP, but if you have PCoIP support the open client can use it. Unfortunately, PCoIP support is not available for download directly from VMware; you can get it pre-installed on various third party thin clients, for example.

If you would like VMware to make PCoIP available for download, I suggest you request this from your sales contact.

Hi,

Thanks for replying quickly to my post Jacob.

Could someone elaborate this PCoIP stuff a bit. I know that is a
protocol, but to whom does your comment apply?

I have a 50 client VMWare View 4.5 Enterprise license with almost all
the bells and whistles. Does this mean that I can use my Dell
Optiplex FX160 TC OpenClient under SuSE and have a full-spec View
experience, or will it be a crippled mode because 'I don't have'
PCoIP?

If vmware made PCoIP 'downloadable' would that be as a rpm for SuSE in
my case?

Thanks for enlightening me :-)

regards Tor

you could still connect to all of your desktops, but they'd use RDP instead of PCoIP. i wouldn't necessarily call this "crippled" but it would be different than the "experience" you'd get with PCoIP.

i found this:

http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=vdm

It looks like that thin client includes the View client with PCoIP support already, so you wouldn't need the open client.

yes.
