Hello,

Currently i am able to get from the view server in the get-desktop-
connection request the IP of a VM to connect to.
I would like to get the DNS name, how could i do that?

Thanks,
Shmaya

Hi Shmaya,

I don't believe our API currently returns the DNS name as we never use
that to connect a client to a desktop. You would likely have to pull
the IP back and then resolve the name with some other code to achieve
this.

Hi Shmaya,

I was wrong!!! One of my colleagues pointed something out to me today
that allows this to happen with built in View functions.

On page 144 of the View 5.0 Admin guide there is a GPO setting that
can be applied to the Agent machines to cause the Client to connect
with the DNS name. The policy is called "Connect using DNS name".

I hope this is still helpful to you!

Regards,

Mike
