Greeting everyone

Is there any way to create a flow extension that follows a centerline path??

I need to add an artificial elbow section to an aortic geometry that I obtained through vmtklab and I was wondering if using the flowextension module that follows a centerline

direction is possible. I just need to create a constant diameter "tube" or "elbow" that connects to the aortic geometry near the aortic arch and i am tryong to figure out a way

to do this using VMTK or VMTKLab

I have a attached a pic that where I have drawn an elbow just so that you guys can have a better idea of what my intent is

thanks in advance

regards

Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,
you should be able to do this using vmtknetworkeditor.

Take the volume from which you generated the model and run

vmtknetworkeditor -image volume.mha -osurfacefile tubes.vtp

Play with the keybindings you see on screen to draw the tube you need (place centerline spheres with Ctrl+click and adjust the radius with + and -). When you're happy confirm (with Enter) and quit (with q).

Then take the file and merge it with your model using

vmtksurfacebooleanoperation -ifile model.vtp -i2file tube.vtp -ofile merged.vtp -operation union

Let us know how it goes.

Hello Luca

I am running VMTK on the same windows 8 machine that I am running VMTKLAB

For some reason when I try to use the vmtknetworkeditor command the program just stays in a constant loop and nothing happens

Have you heard of this king of bug before??

I tried other functionalities such as vmtksurfaceviewer or vmtksurfacecapper and it works

Let me know if you have any suggestions

Meanwhile I will keep working on it

Thanks

regards

Ricardo

Greetings Luca

I've tried a couple of times to do this as you stated but having been successful, probably I am doing something wrong

When you said the following:  "Take the volume from which you generated the model" what do you mean by the "volume"

I am just reading the set of medical images in .mha format but maybe this is not what you mean by volume

What exactly do you refer to by "volume"??

Thanks

regards

Ricardo

Luca no worries, I just found the issue

In the following command, I must use -imagefile instead of -image:

vmtknetworkeditor -image volume.mha...

Thanks anyway and have a good one

Ricardo
