The latest release of VMS_SHARE, version 8.5, is now available from a number of
sources (detailed at the end).

Brief Summary of Function:

VMS_SHARE is a utility designed to package files such that they can be mailed
across the network with minimal chance of corruption by aberrent mailers. A
package of files is encoded into a multi-part share file and mailed as a number
of separate parts, which are rejoined at the receiving end and executed as a
command procedure to restore the original files.

It requires no special compilers or other utiliies at either the sending or
receiving ends.

Changes:

This version includes a number of changes. Briefly:

* Several Bug fixes in the unpacking code, mainly dealing with version
numbers, null filenames and trailing blank handling.
* New /HELP qualifier
* New algorithms for splitting files into segments, and segments into parts
* Overhaul of the packaging code

Full details are contained witin the release notes.
