Subject: Outlook Express and IMAP
Good afternoon. I noticed other references to problems with Outlook Express
and IMAP.
I too am experiencing problems specific to connecting to the message store
via Outlook Express.
Current version information.
libpmdf.so version V6.0-24; linked 11:26:04, Oct 4 2000
SunOS phys-mta-0 5.8 Generic_108528-05 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-2
While not exactly the same as I have seen reported previously, I am having
the following problems.
I can connect to the MessageStore using Outlook or Netscape mailer via IMAP,
but when connecting
using Outlook Express I receive the following errors
"Could not select "Inbox" on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your
folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server.
Upon synchronizing the account I receive the following error
Your 'Inbox' folder was not polled for its unread count. Could not get the
unread counts for 'Inbox' on 'PQ50999' Account: 'PQ50999',
Server: 'mailserver.internal', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Mailbox
does not exist', Port: 143, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2
The error number 0x800CCCD2 suggests problems copying mail to the sent
folder on the server, or cc'ing ones self. Neither of which I am attempting.
As mentioned, none of these problems exist using the commercial Outlook mail
client or Netscape, or Outlook Express via POP.
Any suggestions? Is there a Microsoft patch required for the client?
thanks in advance..
Peter Payton.
I am using Outlook Express 5.50.4133.2400 and Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711) as the clients.

This is what I don't get, I can see the inbox from other clients, including Outlook and
older versions of Express., or Netscape. Upon hearing that, I would have assumed it's a problem
with the Express client, but when I hear that others (including Process support) can connect,
I have to wonder.
Is there perhaps some problems locking the mailbox on a Solaris server?
As always, any information, suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Peter, one thing I'm noticing right off is that it's performing a select
on "INBOX/" as opposed to "INBOX". In Outlook Express, I would go into
your account setup, then edit your IMAP profile, then under options check
to see what your 'Root folder' setting is set to. Although from my limited
understanding, I think this only relates to sub-folders and not the INBOX
which is a special case.
Alternatively, you might try removing your Outlook Express preferences on your
pc for that account and then recreate them and see if that makes any difference.

sorry for the late response. right, the difference is not the list command,
but the select is using INBOX/ which is not the same as INBOX.
and John's suggestion is what I would try too.
