Some folks here want us to use syslog to send the maillogs to a central location.  The System Manager’s Guide says that setting LOG_MESSAGES_SYSLOG in option.dat will send mail log data to syslog, but there are no details, and it doesn’t say what to set it to.  I tried setting it to 1 (and recompiling etc) and nothing showed up in the syslog.  Our syslog.conf contains

mail.debug                                      /var/log/MAILlog

and /var/log/MAILlog exists.  What are we missing?

Also, if we turn on LOG_MESSAGES_SYSLOG and it works, will we also still get log entries in mail.log_current?

Thanks,

Larry
