VMS Systems Management Position Wanted

Hello,

I am currently looking for OpenVMS Systems Management/Administration
work in the USA.

I have attained a Second Class Honours Degree in Computer Science.
In addition, I have 3 years work experience in a large Civil Service
department, where I maintained and developed 10 Alpha OpenVMS systems.
My responsibilities include providing support to the systems and doing
development projects that will improve the systems functionality

Whilst employed at The Meteorological Office, I have migrated two VAX
systems to Alpha Systems and developed an additional two more Alpha
Systems, as part of my departments Year 2000 requirements.

I would appreciate it if anyone with a suitable position in my area would

Relevant Experience

Current Position - Alpha OpenVMS Systems Manager.

The Meteorological Office, Bracknell (September 1997 to Present)

Working within the Message Switching Section of the Telecommunications
department, the position has two main areas of responsibility.
Firstly, I provide support to the AlphaServer Message Switching Systems,
with duties including sorting out user problems and installing and setting
up necessary software and keeping the systems optimised and running smoothly
at all times.
Secondly, most of my time is spent on projects that establish links and
exchanges of weather data with other Meteorological Centres around the world
and improving system performance. The systems provide connections to
external systems and networks for the purpose of file transfers using DECnet
and TCP/IP. I also spend time developing programs using DCL, which can be
used in the reception and transmission of weather data.
I have also been involved in my departments Y2K compliance project where I
scanned and tested our servers for potential Y2K problems and applied Y2K
fixes.
I also act as the backup support for the Mail and Internet Connectivity
Systems, which are also AlphaServer Systems. These systems are primarily
used as FTP servers for external users and for the routing of email to and
from the Internet.


University - Student Helper

Responsibilities involved helping first year students with their problems
regarding 8086/8088 Assembly Language. Other responsibilities involved
solving any general computer and printer problems.

and watching films at the cinema. Also in my spare time I like to read
