Microsoft has a strict policy of not sending any update as an attachment. So
just delete the post above from your newsgroup but remember: DO NOT open the
attachment, which is highly likely to be a virus.

It is not a virus. It is a process that embeds itself into the process
stack and opens up ever few minutes to tell you that you have a problem with
your MS Office, MS Outlook address book database. It gives you a cute
little GUI window that ask you to fill in your name, e-mail address, and
other very sensitive information that could be used by anyone committing
identity theft. You are then supposed to submit this so the process can
correct the "problems in your address book". I suspect it will generate an
email message back to the butthead that is doing this with all your personal
information.

I moved it to my test box, disconnect the network connection, and opened it.
Of course, I did not respond to the input message and closed it down, or so
I thought. Within minutes, it popped back up on the screen and kept doing
so until I shutdown the computer. I searched the task manager for the
process, tried to find the process name in the file system without success.
Searched for all "created" files in the current day without luck. I checked
the Services Tab (NT) and the Devices Tab and could not find anything
unusual. I finally resolved the problem by reinstalling the OS.

If the little creep that is doing this is reading this, do me a favor. If
you are doing this for kicks to get back at MightyShaft, leave me out of it.
Go head to head with them without involving the rest of us! If you are
doing this to screw us all by stealing our personal information, the
electric chair would be too humane for you.

i understand the thought process of why reinstall will eliminate the
problem, but if you have a web-based email how do eliminate then. i
actually have my hotmail account setup on my outlook express. i've also
eliminated the problem by creating a new hotmail account. i can go back to
the old account and these messages still keep coming.
