Hello,

I had a strange thing happen today. After I rebooted the server
running vmktree, it no longer updated any data. I ran the collector
manually and received an error about the location /var/lib/vmktree/
xxx.rrd not existing. My data was being collected in /var/www/vmktree-
data/

How or where can I change this path. Any help would be appreciated.

I am running vmktree on CentOS 5.2

A reboot should not cause such an issue so I'm not sure what could have caused it to start looking at a different path.

This setting is stored in /etc/vmktree.conf under location.data.

I think you hit on the problem. My vmktree.conf does not have any
location data in it. Can you please post an example of this section of
the conf file. I want to get the syntax correct.

Thank You,
Tom

Tom,
These settings are set when you install vmktree and it's very strange that you have lost them. Maybe your config file is missing other settings too? The easiest thing would probably be to rerun the installer. It's non-destructive and will not remove anything.

In order to make the installer recreate your vmktree.conf file you will need to rename the old one first.

After running the installer, the location settings in /etc/vmktree.conf should look similar to:
location.cgi:=/var/www/cgi-bin
location.data:=/var/www/vmktree-data
location.www:=/var/www/html/vmktree

If you're collecting data from non-esx sources you will also need to fix the setting vmktree.objects too as it will be reset to only esx settings if you rename the old vmktree.conf and run the installer.

Good luck!

reran the installer and got every thing running again.
