Good morning everyone,

First and foremost, thank you for making this application available in the open source community.  We will integrate this module in OpenNMS and monitor very specific ESX counters using ESXTOP in batch mode to assist in troubleshooting performance related issues.

People often don't realize how powerful the ESXTOP command is.  We'll certainly use it to our advantage to create a custom monitoring framework which will help us identify problems before the client call the Service Desk.

You might be interested in the following document which you might want to consider integrating the counters in your module.  These are the most important and meaningful counters available in ESXTOP that help pinpoint performance problems.

<<ESXTOP counters.xls>>

An excellent reference document regarding all the counters available through ESXTOP can be found here: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9279

Now, all that being said… considering the vmktree module uses ssh to run the esxcfg-info and the ESXTOP commands which are standard commands across ESX 3.X and 4.X, are you aware of any incompatibility issues with running the module against vSphere hosts (4.0 update 1)?

Hope you guys can answer my question and find the information I provided useful.

Regards,

Stephane Robinson
