Hi Lars

I've followed the very simple instructions for adding VMKtree into vMA
and everything appears to work without any errors however once I have
run the 'vmktree-addesx' command I don't see any results on the web
page.

The website is available but there are no ESX or VM's listed. Is
there a log file to can check or how should I go about troubleshooting
this?

One last thing... I'm running ESX 4.0 and not 4.1. Is it supported
via vMA still?

Many Thanks

Stuart

Stuart,
I'm sorry, but ESX 4.0 is not supported and that is why it's not working properly for you. Please try again after you have upgraded to ESX 4.1.

There is currently no data collector for ESX 4.0 and I doubt I will write one as 4.1 is
the current version since it was released last summer. The data collector from 3.5 will
collect some data from 4.0 and present them, mainly host and guest cpu and memory. The 3.5
collector will sometimes give very wrong cpu graphs from 4.0 hosts so I will not recommend
you to do so.

Adapting the 4.1 collector to support 4.0 is probably the best method and it shouldn't be too
hard to do either, but I currently have no time nor 4.0 servers to implement this functionality and
I'm rather focusing on 4.1 which is the current version and we might also get ESX 5.0 at some point later this year.

Can I use the old style install method designed for ESX 3.5 then?

Thanks
