to vmktree
I installed vmktree exactly as written in the Quick Start Guide for
0.3.0
Downloaded CentOS-5 and installed it as a vm, downloaded and installed
vmktree 0.3.0.
Configured it all with the help of the Quick Start Guide, and added my
ESX3i server with the addesx command.

I can load the vmktree page but there is no graph.
when i look in /var/www/vmktree-data/sys there is a file
esx_server_name.txt with the following content:

Permission denied, please try again.

Permission denied (publickey,password).

I can succesfully ssh into my ESXi server from the vmktree server by
running the follwing command:
ssh root@esx_fully_dns_name /usr/sbin/esxcfg-info
I got the output from that command

what could be the problem?

Hello,

The problem is quite simple; VMKTREE does not support ESXi.

It only supports the full version of ESX, namely VI3 with the Linux Console built in.
Upgrade to the other version of ESX or just rely on the VIC client graphs (Performance Tab) for your ESXi product.

Hope this helps,

Hi,
ESXi is surely supported as documented on the site. It has some
limitations compared to the full version, but most of the info is indeed
available on ESXi.

Have you tried the steps found on the troubleshooting page?
For ESXi is shuold be:'
# cat /etc/cron.d/vmktree <-Use same credentials in the commands below as found here
# ssh <user>@<esxhost> id
# ssh <user>@<esxhost> /usr/sbin/esxcfg-info|more
