On all our multi cpu virtual machines the cpu load values are
represented as a value instead of a percent.
i.e. the cpu load average on a multi cpu machine is shown as 540k

What version of ESX is this? Build number.

Any ideas?

Not really. :(

I don't know why it doesn't work for you as I have it working with multiple cpus
on multiple ESX environments of different builds. Is this consistent across all your vsmp
enabled VMs? Is it the same on both 2 vcpu and 4 vcpu?

I had a similar report from a user on 3.0.1 with 4 vcpus and I don't know why it's not working
correctly for you with such a high build number. The VMs cpu load is calculated from the numbers
that esxcfg-info is providing.

Wonder what's special about your install or what I could do to reproduce this issue..

It is strange, my environment is pretty standard. In this testing
state I am only looking at 3 esx servers.
It is consistent on all my vsmp vm's, both 2 and 4 cpu.

I have attached another image:-

And the esxcfg-info output from the server hosting the vm at the top
of the list in the image.
