vmktree-esx3-collector

Hi,

I installed vmktree today as user, not root. I have changed a few
paths and it seems to work fine so far.

Only problem I see is that the result of vmktree-esx3-collector is
always put to stdout and therefore sent my mail to me but doesn't seem
to be used in rrdtool anywhere?

I am using vmktree-0.3.0rc7.

Do I do something wrong?

Hi Philipp,
vmktree should not normally output anything to stdout unless debugging
is enabled. It might however output things to stderr if something goes
wrong, but both stdout and stderr are normally redirected to /dev/null
in order to avoid mailbox filling.

If it is unable to start collecting data it also creates a text file
instead of the server directory where it stores the data files. I don't
know what paths you've changed or what distro you're using, but the
server data path is normally in /var/lib/vmktree/sys or
/var/www/vmktree-data/sys
