Dear Dr. Ngozi Oleru,

Thank you so much for all of your efforts on this important program.  Please also give my thanks to all of your staff particularly Terri Jenkins-Mclean.  I recognize this has taken a tremendous amount of your time and energy.  I am scheduled to update our community at our VMICC meeting March 18, 2013 on the status of the financial aid program and will be pleased to announce the success of your efforts.  Perhaps you or one of your staff would like to provide the information to the community.

Thanks again,

Carl Sells

Hello Mr. Sells,

It is good to hear from you again. The Request for Proposals(RFP) has been issued by which we are seeking a qualified financial institution to administer the available funds as a permanent revolving loan fund. We anticipate having a loan institution on board by the end of March. Once the chosen financial institution sets up their internal procedures, we expect the proceeds from the loan fund to be available for use for costs related to repairing or replacing malfunctioning on-site septic systems in the Marine Recovery Area. The timeframe will be dependent on the particular institution but I would expect it would be within a month of being chosen.

We will update you as we reach significant milestones. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks,

Subject: MRA Septic System Financial Aid

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is now March of 2013 and the time has arrived when the King County Marine Recovery Area (MRA) Septic System Financial Aid Program is to have been in place and operating.  What progress has been made?  When will the program have loan and grant funds available for repairing and replacing failed septic systems on Vashon Island?

The Washington State Department of Health indicated that $350,000 of EPA funds were allocated to provide setup for the program in the middle of 2012.  Administrative difficulties have been sighted for causing delays until March of 2013.  Hopefully those issues have been resolved and the program is on track.

I thank you for your efforts to make this critical program a reality.  Please let me know the current status of this program.

Carl Sells
