Leaf carving is an emerging art form performed on the canvas of leaves from the Chinar tree
The Chinar tree is native to India, Pakistan and China; its leaves closely resemble maple tree leaves.
The process of carving is performed by artists using tools to carefully remove the outer surface of the
leaf without cutting or removing the veins which add detail into the subject matter of the carving.
Leaf artists then take full advantage of the beauty of the leaf’s vein, form and structure to create an
artistic carving.
