Question for Towns with a population of LESS THAN 3,500

Good morning,
My question pertains to Towns with a population of LESS THAN 3,500.
One of our current Council Members has requested the Town of Appomattox consider “opting in” to the Conflict of Interest Act and the Statement of Economic Interests. The other Council Members have requested to know how many towns participate in the Virginia Conflict of Interest Act and/or Statement of Economic Interests? State Code Section 2.2-3100 et als appears to be vague as to whether towns with 3500 pop or less can participate and State Code Section 24.2-945, Towns with less 3,500 population can “opt into” the Statement of Economic Interests program. Please let me know if you participate in the program(s) and also provide me with the name and contact information for your attorney so our attorney may contact him/her with questions.

Loudoun County does participate in the Conflict of Interest and Statement of Economic Interests. Our County Attorney is Jack Roberts at 703-777-0307.
