Issues with .vimrc bleeding over

I was having an issue with replying to messages (the composition
window would show the wrong message and the message list would shift
left offscreen) and I tracked it down to something I'm doing in
my .vimrc.

I thought that these would be separated, but it seems like the .vimrc
and the .vim/ files are being pulled in somehow.

I'm not sure how to go about fixing this aside from putting vmail's
start up in a script that will unlink prior to starting and relink
post starting.
