I'm trying to install vmail on an OSX 10.8.2 machine. When I try to install:

> chris@DeathStar:~$ gem install vmail
> vmail requires Ruby version >= 1.9.0.

But I have a newer version of Ruby:

> chris@DeathStar:~$ ruby --version
> ruby 1.9.3p327

Ideas?

On my Linux box I had both 1.8 and 1.9 installed, but unbeknownst to me 1.8 was being used. Strange, but I uninstalled 1.8 and all was good from there. Best of luck!

I had a similar problem, I had to install ruby 1.9.2 (specific) to make it run ok, 1.9.3 didn't work for me. As suggested by the author, use rvm and you'll be fine.
