Many of us that have been working hard since the 90s and early 20s will remember the days we fought with word-processing applications. Back then, we could only read PDFs with programs like Adobe Acrobat Pro. Much has changed since then, but somehow, many people only view it as a PDF reader. Well, things are about to change as the company announces new features for the app.
A repackaged unauthorised Adobe Reader 9 is available at filehippo.com. It's by someone called 'Shark007', and I'm assuming it's completely unauthorised by Adobe, since it's a very old v9.0 (not even 9.5), with installer and who knows what else added by 'Shark007'.
Since the installer contains such an old version of Adobe Reader (which I checked by downloading and unpacking the installer), and based on the filehippo pages, I'd say it's completely unauthorised, which IMO would be both a clear breach of Adobe's intellectual property, and is dangerous to unskilled users. Even if the product contains no malware (and we don't know, it seems like FileHippo don't make much effort to check anything), it's a very old hence by now very insecure version of Adobe Reader, which is not made clear at all on the filehippo.com page.
If you want full compatibility with all versions of PDF documents, then the only original PDF viewer is from the source and that is Adobe.
