Salvete omnes,
The VJCL Executive Board met yesterday to begin planning for this summer's NJCL Convention, to be held July 25-30 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY. Now it's time for those who are interested in attending to get the details and help in the planning for another successful Virginia run at convention! As I stated in an earlier e-mail, the Executive Council meeting will be held in two weeks -- on Sat., Mar. 5, at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg. We encourage all teachers interested in attending Nationals (or sending delegates) to bring at least two representatives from your school to this meeting. You'll have an opportunity to hear the plans for what is shaping up to be a great VJCL tour to convention, as well as plans for another pre-convention Spirit Castra; and you'll also be a part of helping to shape VA's participation in all of the spirit days. Your VJCL officers have mapped out some terrific ideas, and we're anxious to hear your input. Just to get your students thinking, the spirit themes this year are:
JCL - Unbridled Spirit
Post It to Purple and Gold
Kentucky Fried Classics
Day in Old Rome - Turning Back the Pages
The council meeting, which will begin at noon, will be held in Trinkle Hall, room 204. You can download directions to UMW and a campus map at http://www.umw.edu/visitors/directions/default.php Trinkle Hall is number 16 on the campus map. There is a parking deck on the far end of campus, but it's a bit of a hike to Trinkle from there. You may want to consider parking on College Road. If you wish to arrive in Fredericsburg for lunch before the meeting, there are a number of restaurants to choose from (fast food and otherwise) on Rt. 3 as you approach the UMW campus.
We look forward to seeing many of you at UMW on Sat., Mar. 5. There are a lot of wonderful ideas to be discussed, and we want you to be a part of it all.
Best regards,
Laurie
