Dear VJCL,
I am pleased to announce on behalf of our persistent and patient 1st VP, Yasmin Rafiq, that April 19-23 has finally been declared Classics Week (ex post facto) by the governor of Virginia. You may recall a proclamation issue of great controversy back in April that was a bit untimely for our own cause and resulted in this delay. We were asked to change the wording as proclamations may no longer list the name of any specific organization.
We were aided in the changes and the passing of the proclamation by a former Latin student of our own Vicki Scaggs at Manchester High School in Chesterfield, who now is the Senior Assistant for Community Relations in the governor's office. So continue to teach those children well as you never know when they can help you out down the road!
Sincerely,
Amy Petersen

Dear Ms. Petersen,
Please accept my most sincere apology for the length of time it has taken to get this proclamation this approved. Next year, this will not be an issue. I do have some good news: it was signed this morning by the Governor. Attached is the PDF copy.
Sincerely,
Ryan S. Newcomb
Senior Assistant for Community Relations
