Dear Sponsors,

Several people came to me at the registration desk to report stolen items at convention this year.  Please share with your students both the importance of making sure they keep their valuables secure and the importance of returning found valuables.  I know you all try to instill strong values in your students so I don't need to tell you to teach importance of integrity - just keep those lessons going!

If you have heard word of any of the following matters, or your students have any information to share about them, please share that knowledge with me and I will make sure the missing items get returned to the rightful owner and that the exchange remains anonymous in case fear of being accused or ratting on a friend is keeping people silent.

There may be items of value beyond the ones below that have gone missing so feel free to let me know of anything else that has turned up within your delegation and I will do my best to find the rightful owner.

Here are the ones that we know of:

1.  A Verizon LG Ally phone, taken out of a delegate's nametag pouch, which was on a table during the dance, between around 10-11 pm.

2.  A wallet belonging to a young man from northern VA

3.  A black trenchcoat

4.  $35 cash taken from a couple delegates' bags in the holding tank

Thank you.  Despite the disappointment that some items were knowingly stolen, we know that such behavior is a very rare deviation from the usual responsibility, integrity and moral rectitude of JCL delegates.  We thank you for bringing your best students every year so that they may shine and grow via the experiences that the VJCL convention offers and we also would like to thank you as sponsors for your great efforts and assistance.  Such an event is only possible with all of us working together.  We hope you know that all the work you do to prepare for the convention and the two days of hard work and little sleep makes a huge impact on the lives of all the students in attendance.  So get some rest, enjoy your holiday and know that there are hundreds of people out there thankful for you!

Ex animo,
