We invite you to review and comment on the following proposal for implementation of deduplication and disambiguation functionality in VIVO. The specification and its implementation are part of the VIVO development project that has been funded by Lyrasis and Texas A&M University.

Objective: To develop a new tool that provides mechanisms for deduplication and disambiguation of metadata for integration in the VIVO knowledge graph.
The proposed specifications are released as a Request for Comments (RFC). The goal of this exercise is to collect feedback, suggestions and critical perspectives from the VIVO community and beyond. Your input will help to improve the suggested ideas to ensure
that the implementation of this functionality is beneficial for all VIVO users as well as the broader scholarly community.
We particularly welcome comments on:
· clarity and completeness of the proposal,
· feasibility and practical implications from a technical and non-technical perspective,
· alignment with standards, and
· (your) existing practices, needs and use cases.
Please submit your comments by March 17, 2026 using the Google Doc comment feature.
All feedback will be reviewed and, if appropriate and possible within the funded scope, incorporated into the specification of the resulting product.
