Hi,

I am going through Vitess documentation and examples and I am still a bit puzzled. I'd like to use something like Vitess but I want to use the cloud database services instead of my own MySQL instances. E.g. AWS RDS Aurora, for example. Is it even supposed to work? I do not see a single example anywhere with the mentioning of the remote database :(

I believe I answered your question on Slack: "You should first go through the tutorial to get a good feel for vitess itself. Once you're comfortable, you can follow the instructions here https://vitess.io/docs/user-guides/vttablet-modes/ to point vitess at any existing mysql instance."

Thanks, I think I was not patient enough to see the answer :)

I saw the options about using the tcp connection instead of the local socket but I saw a number of times that "vttablet needs to be on the same machine as mysql" in different forms. So I started having doubts if the option of remote DB server is suitable for the future production deployment at all, I think the documentation is not very clear on that.
