Cary Campbell Lopes, hailing from a lineage of artists, embarked on a career in art influenced by her grandmother, Mary Shillabeer, a renowned artist, illustrator, and puppeteer.

Her British mother, an artist and interior designer, also inspired Cary.

After completing a Diploma in Graphic Design in the UK, Cary moved to Hong Kong where she met and married her artist partner, Paulo Lopes.

Together, they established a successful graphic design company, later transitioning to Windmill Graphics in Portugal.

Eventually settling in Whistler, Canada, Cary and Paulo taught art classes and started the company ‘Paintertainment,’ specializing in imaginative and elaborate costumes.

More recently, Cary has delved into creating custom jewellery with her ‘Trace of Lace’ series, crafting unique pieces using repurposed jewellery, lace, and various embellishments.

Currently, she teaches online acrylic painting classes while continuing her artistic journey.

Paulo Lopes, an artist with a diverse creative background, rediscovered his love for painting in recent years, especially during the Covid pandemic.

Previously, he resided in Hong Kong, where he worked as an illustrator and graphic designer. It was there that he met his life and creative partner, Cary.

After relocating to Canada, they founded a company focused on crafting unique costumes for the event industry.

Paulo identifies himself primarily as a Custom Painter/Artist, drawing significant inspiration from the Auto Custom Culture.

His commissioned works and personal art are strongly influenced by this aesthetic.

He predominantly employs airbrushes and large spray guns, allowing him to create captivating pieces on various mediums.

In addition to canvas paintings, Paulo also ventures into painting large 3D structures, sculptures, bikes, skateboards, helmets, hard corsets, costumes, and occasionally takes on wall mural projects.
