First: Excellent utility.

Second: Slight problem I find at times with 2.89 and the latest 2.9
beta version (both free versions, for the moment) is that occasionally
I click the Start menu only to find that I am back with the basic XP
Classic Menu even though I have the VistaStartMenu icon in the system
tray. ( I am running XP pro SP2.) If I then open VistaStartMenu and go
to Options/System Integration and deselect ‘Replace the System Start
Menu’, go to another page, come back and set the same tick box, all is
OK –for a while; sometimes hours.

I saw that someone else had the same problem, and reinstalling
VistaStartMenu was advised. I tried this and the problem still occurs.
I think that it may be linked to either Firefox (currently using
2.0.0.14) or Access 2003 –but not certain as I have many other
utilities running at the same time.

Perhaps if you can tell me what the ‘Replace the System Start Menu’
tick box changes, presumably in the Registry, I may be able to locate
the conflict.

Thanks for your hard work in producing such a useful addition to
Windows.

I have noticed this too, if you use IE, for a hour or so, the VSM 2.9b
is replaced wirh the Windows start menu.(This is on Vista BTW)
Clicking on the Systray icon, starts it again.

And you are right, it is an Excellent utility.

Bit more on this problem, now using the latest release, 2.9

I am not certain, but I think it happens after I use Outlook. I have
been trying to spot the change and will try and tie it down further.
