Could we please have a comparison of the various start menu products functions that will run on Win 8? It is very difficult to select a version with the existing web structure and information. I have problems seeing differing points and functions the way things are presented. The descriptions are pretty similar. Multiple "best choice" statements.

Are you meaning to include products like Classic Start Menu, Start8, and the like, Harold?
Although I don't use it extensively, yet, I think StartMenuX is on the right track - unrolling the full extent of the Start menu, showing all programs at once - as the *etro Start Page/Menu attempts to do.
SMX isn't perfect yet, being a mixture of hover/expand and hover/click, and accelerator-numbers or mouse-clicks, but not both, but time will tell.
The others, like CSM, just give you Win7/XP/98/95's first level of options - teasing you to click or wait on All Programs expansion - no evolution there. SMX gives you it all at one glance; evolution.
