Local EDIS Server?

This may be a naive question - we are installing EDIS and hoping to get it work in our test VistA server. The installation guide doesn't have any setup for the EDIS Server - does that mean we don't need to (can't) install our own EDIS server?

In other words, the EDIS client PCs run the browser and sends all the request to the national main EDIS server, then that EDIS server sends RPC calls to the VistALink listener running in our own VistA server (assuming that we will send the IP/Port/Access code/Verify code to the national EDIS server) and display proper information based on the response from our own VistA server? If this is true, then every time something went wrong between local EDIS client PC and the nationally EDIS server, we will be at the mercy of whoever is in charge of the national EDIS server...

Or maybe I really missed something help.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

mmm.....

I couldn't find any section that discusses how to install our own EDIS server in the installation guide provided by VA.. Would you mind pointing me to the instruction on how to do this?

thanks a bunch!

Did you see if there was anything on the trac server about how to do it? You
have to install VistALink 1.5 and there is information and a script to do that
on http://opensourcevista.net:8888/NancysVistAServer/VistALinkFiles and there
are other instructions about how to do it one directory up if you don't want
to use the script, and you have to install Tomcat. You also have to install
the kids builds from the Trac server. The VA instructions talk about
configuring VistA Link as I recall.

Thanks Nancy.

We have already configured VistALink 1.6 on our VistA Server (running Linux) and that appears to work.

I guess the part that I am missing here is how to set up and run the EDIS Web Application. The VA installation guide doesn't include instruction on how to deploy that in WebLogic... :(

I am sorry, but I have no information about using WebLogic and I don't think
the open source version that uses Tomcat will use VistALink 1.6. If you want
to use WebLogic, perhaps you can make a FOIA request to see if there is some
documentation for it.

I found some instructions to build the ear to be deployed in Weblogic. However, during the build I encountered some error. I will start a new topic.
