Hi everyone,

I just updated all primary VisPy repositories on GitHub to use the branch name "main" instead of "master" for its primary/default branch. This was done in an effort to remove any negative association with the term and this project. We empathize with those that find the term offensive and find no reason to continue using it. While this was an easy decision for me personally, it is made even easier by the support GitHub provides in renaming the branch and letting users know. In addition to what GitHub offers, I've created a new section in the VisPy contributor guide for anyone who would like to update their forks to match the main VisPy repository:

Now while GitHub makes it easy to do this renaming, I did find a way to completely mess it up and accidentally closed all open VisPy pull requests. If you had a pull request that was closed today, it should have been reopened and properly changed to point to the new "main" branch.

If you have an issue with this decision, feel free to contact me directly. Note that the vispy developers did discuss this and agreed that it was the right move.

Dave
