Hi all, hoping to find a solution to a hopefully straightforward challenge.
I have coded by dataset in DNA, with a populated orgtype variable. However, I can't find a way to colour my nodes in Visone in attribute manager or in node properties by this variable.
This is my first time using the software and would appreciate any insight, especially as this data set has over 500 statements across approx 100 actors!
Thank you,
Kaavya

Dear Kaavya,
you can color the nodes according to an attribute as follows:
Click on the search bar on the left just below the minimap, and search for “node color”. Select the “node color” field in the displayed tree/hierarchy.
Then you should have settings appear in the tab just below the search bar to color the nodes based on some attribute.
Alternatively to the search bar, you can also find the operation by selecting the “visualization” tab on the left and then choosing category “mapping”, type “color” and property “node color” in the boxes that appear from top to bottom in this tab.
Best,
Julian

Hi Julian,
Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, "orgtype" is not visible as an attribute in that field, nor is it in attribute manager (see attached).
What would you recommend to be able to pull this variable through? Do I need to import the data separately? I know it is beyond the scope of this forum, but this is the data I am exporting from DNA, with total variables in the bottom left (where you can see organization type is populated)

Hi Kaavya,
Looking at the screenshot of the attribute manager, is it perhaps the “Type” or the “variable” attribute? I’m not sure.
But I think this is rather a DNA than a visone question: Does it store the organization type in the exported graphml file, and if so how/where?
You could either send a (minimal) exported graphml file to julian....@gess.ethz.ch and I can try to figure out if the attribute is stored in the file somewhere. Or probably more fruitful, you could ask someone from the DNA community, such as DNA's author Philip Leifeld.
Best,
Julian

Hi Kaayya,
as being somewhat familiar with DNA (I assume you refer to Discourse
Network Manager) and having used it together with visone for a while,
which network type you used to export your data from DNA?
Possible reasons:
1) you have exported an one-mode network and not used "orgtype" as
Variable 1;
2) you have exported an event list -> "orgtype" might be an edge attribute.
