A whole lotta walking today.
First to the market after morning prayer. Then all around the
market. Then back to the Pagalba centra. Ben, Matt and myself sanded
until our arms were like jelly and the walls were ready for coat #2.
Put a pair of fans on the walls then ran down to the church to try to
finish the acrobat scaffold areas. While there, Raimondas showed up
with the floor. We quick unloaded that and made a bee line for lunch
as we were quite late already.
After lunch we went back. I bought a special treat for the 4 girl
helpers. They had been so kind to pick berries for us before we went
off to lunch. I stopped and grabbed 4 cokes and some chips that
looked popular. I brought them to the girls who were very happy to
see. Shortly there after, Raimondas showed up with food for the
girls. He told me he was doing this but he drove and we walked, I had
thought surely he had beat us there. He was not pleased I ruined
their lunch. Something about the snake and a bad fruit tree, but I
did not understand very well. I simply explained I did not have
daughters so I do not know any better than to spoil them whenever I
can. In the end the girls finished their lunch too. As long as the
boys don't watch they eat just fine. :) Dinner was a different
story. We had mentioned it would be fun to have the girls there, and
Raimondas arranged it. Seating was limited so we all got a little
cozier. I gave up my seat for Endre and the 3 others took over the
other end of the table, including Raimonda's seat. I found out they
do not know how to play many card games but that Gretta did have a set
of Uno cards she plays with the girls quite regularly and I wanted to
get each pair of sisters their own. Matt agreed to accompany me on my
what proved to be unsuccessful quest. We hit the 3 most likely stores
in town and no luck. I could find dominoes and chess sets, but little
else. Mental note for next trip.
Nancy, Betty, Holly and Joe did a very special side trip that everyone
in my google group probably is already aware of. I can not do it
justice as I was not there, but I will say that what was described
does not go far enough to explain the huge amount of emotions that
resulted from the visits with those 5 families. There is more work to
do and many families that need help, grace and forgiveness to begin
anew. Please pray for the safety of these children and for their
parents. May God provide paths for them to stop the cycle and break
free from their vices and be the kind of parents the Bible describes
for us to be.
Time to rest. We have a floor and two walls to finish tomorrow.
Iki,
Broderick
