I will try my best to recap this. We have been back and forth to the
church, the lumber mill, the Gifts of Grace home and Paceriaukste many
times. We have had a gameplan many times and it did not mean a whole
lot. We have discovered through much trial and error that we get a
lot further by doing what comes naturally along to us and taking time
to spend with the people. Everytime we allow this to happen, we are
blessed in numerous ways. Case in point today. I and a few of the
team were really stressing over making concrete from scratch using
parts of cement, sand, aggregate and water. The package and the how
to stuff online conflicted, we did not have control over what sand and
gravel would show up.. Thankfully, these men showed up that knew
what they were doing and handled the mixing end of the job. We were
able to focus on the insulation, painting and more concrete form
making so the entire area could be completed.
Another great example was our taking time to spend with the kids in
Paceriaukste. We were all concerned about what it would mean to the
church and getting the floors done to lay tile and have it completed
before service on Sunday and our departure. With only an hour and
half to mix and spread this in two rooms, everything went directly on
time. We completed devotions with time to spare to get to the bazaar
at the Pagalbos Centras.
As we left the church, we noticed a large group of people meeting in
the sanctuary. Later we found out from Regina that this was class for
local people to learn English. Just another way that the church is
being used by the community.
I also want to say a big THANK YOU to the people at First United
Methodist church in Grand Rapids, MI. It is by your generosity that
we have the freedom to run back and forth to all of these projects as
we are using the microbus that you purchased for the Pagalbos
Centras. We are being very careful and will make sure it is full of
fuel when we return it. It has been the biggest blessing to have
access to this, I can not begin to explain the depths of how it has
helped our mission here.
Tomorrow we work at the church to lay tile and prime and paint walls.
We are going to have lunch out on the town and then see the children
of the Pagalbos Centras. (maybe sneak in a trip to the bookstore on
the way back :)
It is after midnight here and everyone is fast asleep, so I must go.
Please continue your prayers for efficient and skillful hands, but for
open hearts that we might reach out to.
