Today we had to buckle down and get to business. We had to finsih the
floor in the bathroom so we can put the toilet back in place and stop
that nasty odor coming from the pipes. Washer room floor is done and
is ready for grout tomorrow.
We tried to be a little adventurous today and go to lunch all on our
own like grownups. The first place was closed due to a private
party. The second place was open, but we were recognized immediately
as those crazy Americans and the shop owner called Regina from
Pagalbos Centras to come translate and get our order completed. We
were ready to do it on our own, but it was funny that they did this
knowing who we are.
After lunch we were able to go to Pagalbos centras and meet the
children there for the first time this week. They had many children
there for the after school program, including 2 we saw briefly at the
orphanage. We all recieved cards and had our names called out. Each
card was signed by all the children present. We were honored with a
dance and with a special treat, the children sang their national hymn,
much to Regina's surprise.
We had a few moments of questions and answers and photos and then they
asked us to hear our national anthem. Not to be outdone by a handful
of children, we gave it our all and received a wave of applause just
as we had given them.
We worked some more and then broke for dinner and a special night at
the Centras. The ladies had given us a special gift to bring back to
the church as well as a gift for FUMC to bring home. (You are just
going to have to wait Ben)
Not wanting to leave our hosts, we were determined to get the full
first goat onto this crazy fiberglass wallpaper stuff they have asked
us to install in the reception area on the second floor. This stuff
drinks paint even after a healthy dose of primer milk. (cause thats
about its consistency) So we headed back to finish and do some
cleanup.
Short day tomorrow and lots to do, but we will break for a little trip
to their weekly outdoor market where local merchants come to sell
their wares.
Please pray for Matt and Jen. Both have come down with one hefty head
cold. They have the meds necessary, but they need strength to
complete the tasks. Thank you all for your support.
