Well, the weather was not as nice as the weather man had said.
(Duh!) But, we did not let that keep us from serving. We had a few
setbacks due to schedules, but we jumped right into it and began doing
some demolition at the church in Birzai. They have some problems with
the tile floors that were popping up due to something with the
adhesive. We now have the floors 90% prepped for the new floorstone
that will go down before we attempt to put down new tiles. We expect
this to allow the tiles to stick better this time. (lots of prayers on
that one)
We then took a short drive to the Gifts of Grace home in Pacieraukste
and got a look at the work that needs to be done there so that we can
better complete those tasks. Turns out we will not be putting the
doors in, but they have asked for us to do the concrete work in the
garage area that is used for storage. Currently there is an earth
floor and it is a problem for storing items of value for serving the
children. We have also been asked to insulate the ceiling once the
fire retardant is applied and paint the exterior of the building too.
Since we were not able to get a great deal of work done at the Gifts
of Grace home done today, we spent some time with the children inside
and with the staff there enjoying some conversation with Walla, Regina
and Kingsley about the work that will be done and how it will affect
the children.
We then went back to wrap up some more work at the church before we
went to dinner at the Pagalbos Centras in Birzai. We had a terrific
meal with Walla and Regina that was specially prepared for Monica.
(all veggitarian)
We have had a great blessing of been given access to the microbus for
the Pagalbos Centras and this has and will make it much easier for us
to get around this week.
Please take a look at the pictures, but dont be disappointed. I am
having issues with my camera today and ran through 2 sets of batteries
in the few pictures you see posted from today. Very bizarre, but I am
hoping some Lithuanian batteries will straighten it right out.
Pray for less rain and efficient hands tomorrow, we have a lot to get
started and complete tomorrow.
