An update on this tool: here's an early screenshot from Sebastien of
Datalicious, Canada. I think it's awsome.

NOTE: this is *just* a preliminary screenshot. The data is still
being gathered/groomed, so don't take it too seriously. I'm getting
advice right now on the appropriate legal disclaimers to put on the
final website.

Looks promising. I'm an associate producer with CBCNews.ca and I've
been scraping and collecting data about government contracts from the
respective websites. The data is very dirty because of the different
data standards across different departments, and I'm not sure what to
do with it. I'm hoping following you here will give me some ideas. J>

Thanks for writing! I originally looked at contracts, but got the
immediate impression that it might be too hard. My hope is that the
expense visualizer will help apply more pressure to start producing
information that can be used in a site like usaspending.gov.

I was going to approach OMBWatch for their formats, as a
reccomendation.

Hello,

I have good tools for web scraping that I helped develop for work. Can
you provide links to some of this data so that I can try my tools?

Hello Adam,

I already scraped contracts for most of the agencies onto www.disclosed.ca
The raw data is also available in CSV format at
http://github.com/nurey/disclosed/tree/master
Any questions, send me an email.
