I am Neil Egsgard. I believe that life tends to be constructive and
collaborative and that as a product of life humanity expresses those
tendencies over time. I believe problems at different levels of life
require different types of practical solutions. You patch a cut with
a bandage, you fight infection with antibodies, you discuss
interpersonal issues and you mobilize societies to address social
problems. I work at creating practical solutions that move thought &
discussion to effective action.
For a long time I have been working on how to best affect positive
change. My most recent concrete effects have been as a non judgmental
listener for people needing an ear and sounding board, as a mentor for
a young teenager, by helping construct a positive river surfing
community based around
www.riversurfing.ca and through the creation of
a site which allows easier contact with your federal & provincial
elected representatives (
www.theyworkforyou.ca). So far I have
privately funded the websites I have created but the construction of
larger scale positive effects requires collaboration with like minded
folk.
I am inspired by the discussions here, the calibre of people involved,
the information you are making available (I am loving the Public
Engagement Initiative and the Crowdsourcing Government Transparency)
and the potential for real world change.
I know little about government finances nor have I put much through
into it so I won't have much specific to add right now. I recognize
that easy access to regularly updated financial information is
fundamental to improving our democracy. I look forward to learning
from you and then contributing as I can in both ideas and action.
Thank you so much for making Canada better!
Stoked,
Constructive Ethos
