Hi all,

I've been focused on some other things in the last while, but thought
I should give an update on where this project is.

I had high hopes that this project might receive funding from the Open
Society Institute (George Soros), under their Right to Information
program. However, I've gotten a response saying that, despite what
was and is still indicated on the website, they don't fund projects in
Canada.

http://www.soros.org/grants/application/grant_apply_step_5_view?grant_type=organizational&country_id=112&country_name=Canada&initiative_code=special&initiative_name=Special+Initiatives+&sub_focus_area_code=access&x=24&y=8

Really, this is a pretty miserable time for fundraising for non-
profits in general. It looks like, if this project is to go ahead, I
might have to be creative in finding funding.

It's possible this could be developed using pooled money from a group
of interested parties, for instance -- news agencies, academic
institutes, universities, etc. I can work on putting a list together
of people to approach. I'd welcome any ideas you might have.

Jennifer
