Yeah, but is it funny?

to Visible Policies
I'd like to to get some feedback on an addition I made recently to the
question and answer (q&a) section of the Visible Policy. See

* http://r0k.us/insurance/vp/vl01.html#q_a

and page down a screen or two until you see the question "Rich, do you
gotta be so complicated?" Within the question is a fairly big image
of some actuarial statistics.

Take a look, please. What was your first impression?

* funny?
* confusing?
* stupid?
* scary math stuff?

My goal was a sort of over-the-top dry humor, to show what
"complicated" really might be. I got feedback from one guy who took
it the wrong way, apparently thinking that actuarial math might be a
normal part of the site.

If you think it could be taken the wrong way, do you have a suggestion
for improving it? Or should I just delete that particular q&a
altogether?

Rich,
I ask: Is the "visible policy" designed to help answer a question or to be intellectually stimulating and entertaining?

I like the former. You can still inject wit and charm to your heart's content, but without goals, it's not that appealing.

I proposed you address this question: How does your (generic) policy stack up against alternate investments?

Expanding that, you could do a "market segmentation" of your potential readership and address it (example here with alternate investments in context):

- Current owners
--want to know more about it
--investment vs other alternatives
--how do I maximize value of existing policy?

- Shoppers
--term
--whole life

- Skeptics (eg Bogleheads)

- Academicians
--Interested in LI
--want to disparage it

As to your survey, I pick "needless" and "possibly confusing"

Good stuff! Hope I helped a little.
