One in whom all the great elements have their support. He is mahaan (a great one) and nidhi (the most precious one).

The shruti says: triiNi padaa vichakrame.

One who bestows riches.
Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4.4.24 says: 'annaado vasudaanah' -- the eater of food and the bestower of riches.
