Here we are in May, and you might have noticed that I did not send out
an Art Update for April.
Some of you will have already heard about the newest personal change in
the daily life of my husband Tony and I.
His polycystic kidney disease has now progressed to the critical point,
with his kidneys at a function level of only 19%. Since the beginning of April
when we first learned of his latest results, we have been on a whirlwind
schedule of meeting with his doctor, talking with our transplant team and
encouraging living donors, all in the effort for a miracle find of a matching
donor for Tony. I am of course being
tested for Tony, having recently finished my first round of testing, and even
if I am not a match for him, I will go into a larger pool of donors that can
increase his chance of finding one sooner.
We also have some friends who are being tested which we deeply
appreciate since Tony’s family is not involved.
Time is of the essence as we hope that someone out there is a match in a
living donor while we desperately hope to avoid dialysis and of course the
looming deadline on his life.
For anyone
considering registering for Tony Imperatrice, just click on this link www.ucdonor.org then type in his name Tony
Imperatrice as the "specified recipient" - and his birth date -
October 1, 1963. Tony is in need of a kidney transplant and if you know anyone
who would consider being a living donor, you can have them contact me with any
questions. Thank you so much!
Meanwhile, we also focus on our artistic endeavors.
For me that means the art work
continues. My latest studio work is
naturally reflecting our present challenge.
I have been and am currently continuing new work for shows in Fresno and
Los Angeles.
You can still see my two pieces, “persistence”
and “gender neutral” in the exhibition
“Two Degrees of Separation – An
International Sisterhood of Women Artists” continuing through May 22nd,
at Arte Americas. Thanks to Director Frank Delgado and Rebecca
Caraveo, for asking to include my work in this show. This is always a major exhibit with large
crowds and impressive art; you won’t want to miss it! Arte
Americas is located in Downtown Fresno at 1630 Van Ness Ave., Fresno, CA
93721 and can be reached at (559) 266-2623.
You can find more information by clicking on this link: http://www.arteamericas.org/
Contact me if you would like to
purchase either one or both of these pieces.
Payment plans are available.
I’ve also since been invited to
show my work at Gallery 825, 825 North La Cienega Boulevard, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA 90069, for both the “Out There” show in June with the reception Friday, June 10, 6 to 9pm and the “LAAA Anniversary Art Show” in July/August with the reception Saturday,
July 30, from 7 - 9pm. There
is at least one other show in LA that I haven’t received information on yet,
but I will share as soon as I get the details.
Since my March update, I’ve traveled several times to LA for art
business with galleries that already show my work and meeting other galleries
that are interested. I also continue as
a member of an Artist Critique Group with fellow Los Angeles Art Association
members meeting at various LA locations. Sponsored by the LAAA/Gallery 825, we meet
monthly to critique our work and plan for a show at an LA Gallery where a
professional art critic will review our work and our show will open to the
public for a reception.
You can visit my Artist Member Page with the LAAA/Gallery
825 through their website:
As I continue my work to sell my art, (which helps me pay bills, purchase
supplies and to be able to attend art events in LA), Please feel free to ask me
about any of my work if you are interested.
And remember, I am always willing to work out payments with you.
Thanks for reading,
Aileen
