funeral in parish church...
http://www.virtueonline.org/newport-beachca-los-angeles-diocese-denies-familys-request-hold-funeral-parish-church-middle-dispute
As if denying a congregation the right to return to their former home in
Newport Beach, CA, the diocese of Los Angeles denied a family's request
to hold a funeral at St. James the Great in the middle of an
ecclesiastical battle that could see Bishop Jon Bruno tossed out of the
Church. This not going to work said a diocesan official.

guilty
http://www.virtueonline.org/rhode-island-ex-episcopal-chaplain-st-georges-school-pleads-guilty-1973-molestation
A former associate chaplain at St. George's School in Rhode Island pled
guilty to molesting a student during trips to Boston in 1973. Howard
White Jr., who was also accused of sexual abuse in three other states
and stripped of his priesthood by the Episcopal Church and received an
18-month sentence.
4. Barron Trump headed to Episcopal day school in Maryland
http://www.virtueonline.org/barron-trump-headed-episcopal-day-school-maryland
Despite the fact that Melania Trump is a Roman Catholic, the Trump's
have chosen to send their son to St. Andrew's Episcopal Day School while
he is living in the White House. Eleven-year-old Barron Trump is
expected to enter the sixth grade at St. Andrew's and be enrolled as a
member of the Class of 2024. St. Andrew's is located in Potomac,
Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC. The coeducational college
preparatory independent school is about 20 miles from the White House.
5. CHARLOTTE, NC: Episcopal rector resigns after 'conduct unbecoming
http://www.virtueonline.org/charlotte-nc-episcopal-rector-resigns-after-conduct-unbecoming
The rector of Charlotte's second largest Episcopal church has agreed to
resign from his post after a diocesan panel concluded that he engaged in
"conduct unbecoming a member of the clergy." The Rev. Paul Winton has
been the chief minister at St. John's Episcopal Church on Carmel Road
for seven years. No one, including the bishop, Winton himself or the
parish will say what the unbecoming sin he committed was, but it was not
enough apparently to have his orders removed. He is still a priest in
good standing.

6. Ecclesiastical Firestorm Erupts over Diocese of Caledonia Rejection
of Bishop
http://www.virtueonline.org/ecclesiastical-firestorm-erupts-over-diocese-caledonia-rejection-bishop
A five-year long, 318-page report, titled Task Force on Holy Orders
commissioned by the Anglican Church in North America has concluded that
its current practice regarding women's orders as stated in its
Constitution will allow each diocese to determine whether it will ordain
women as deacons or priests.
It's position on the ordination of women bishops also remains unchanged.
Individual dioceses may ordain women as Deacons or Priests but not women
Bishops. The report will now be sent to the GAFCON Primates for their
input and guidance.
An ecclesiastical firestorm has erupted following a story I wrote about
the House of Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of BC & Yukon
rejecting the election of the Rev. Jacob Worley to be the next Bishop of
Caledonia because he held views unacceptable and impermissible to the
liberal ACoC because at one point in his career he served in the
Anglican Mission in America.
http://tinyurl.com/y82apkyt The Diocese of Caledonia officials and the
diocese of the Arctic weighed in on that rejection.

Anglo-Catholic writer and journalist, Auburn Faber Traycik, died this
week at the age of 64 in Richmond, Virginia. She had been suffering for
several years with Parkinson's Disease and had moved from Washington,
DC, where she has lived near the Hill to Richmond, VA, three months ago.
She was one of the finest Anglican journalists in the Communion and as
editor of The Christian Challenge she enjoyed a following among
Continuing Anglicans and Anglo-Catholics.

8. A Joint Statement on Communion from the Primate of Bangladesh and

http://www.virtueonline.org/joint-statement-communion-primate-bangladesh-and-primate-anglican-church
The Rt. Rev. Markus Dogo, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kafanchan in
Kaduna State, Nigeria, says the Fulani, a widely dispersed Muslim ethnic
group in Sahel and West Africa, pose a bigger threat to Christians in
what he called the "middle belt" of North Central Nigeria, than Boko
Haran, who are further to the north. I interviewed Bishop Dogo at a
recent CANA synod in Binghamton, New York.
Score another Primate for GAFCON and another tweak at Archbishop Justin
Welby. The Archbishop of the ACNA Foley Beach and the Primate of the
Anglican Church of Bangladesh, the Most. Rev. Paul Sarker signed a joint
Statement on Communion recognizing the primacy and sufficiency of the
Scriptures, and the value of their common Anglican heritage. "We agreed
that with Christ as the cornerstone, The Anglican Church in North
America and the Church of Bangladesh affirm and celebrate our communion
together. Consequently, we discussed how our two provinces might work
more closely together through mission partnerships.
9. Primates elected for the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle
East
http://www.virtueonline.org/primates-elected-episcopal-church-jerusalem-and-middle-east
Archbishop Suheil Dawani of the Diocese of Jerusalem was elected the
next Primate of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. He
succeeds Archbishop Mouneer Hanna Anis, who has held the post since
2007. Archbishop Dawani will serve for a period of two and a half years,
to be followed by Bishop Michael Lewis of the Diocese of Cyprus and the
Gulf. Dawani is no friend of GAFCON and is not one of the (orthodox)
Global South Primates. The Diocese of Jerusalem is firmly in the pocket
of The Episcopal Church that has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars
over the years into the diocese to keep it firmly in its camp.
10. REACH-SA ordination creates more questions than answers
http://www.virtueonline.org/reach-sa-ordination-creates-more-questions-answers
The recent under-the-radar episcopal consecration of Jonathan Pryke by
the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of South Africa (REACH-SA), on
English soil, raised a host of questions about the process by which the
new missionary bishop was created and there don't seem to be any
definitive answers. Who was chief consecrator? Were there any
co-consecrators? Is consecration invalid, illicit, or irregular? Why all
the cloak and dagger secrecy? Is schism being brought to Anglican
Communion?

11. The Church of England is to vote on creating an official
'baptism-style service to celebrate sex changes
http://www.virtueonline.org/church-england-vote-creating-official-baptism-style-service-celebrate-sex-changes
The Church of England will vote on creating an official 'baptism-style'
service to celebrate when transgender Christians change sex. The motion
will be debated by the General Synod in July and comes at a highly
sensitive time for bishops, who are struggling to prevent a major split
over same-sex marriage. The controversial motion has dismayed
traditionalists, who say the Bible teaches that gender is God-given.
12. Will the Bishop of Manchester 'come together' by inviting Muslims to
his transgender week
http://www.virtueonline.org/will-bishop-manchester-come-together-inviting-muslims-his-transgender-week
In a hard-hitting piece on the Bishop of Manchester David Walker, VOL
commentator Jules Gomes asks if the rubbish spouted by the bishop
following the Manchester bombing wherein he talks about 'coming
together'. He asks if devout Muslims are likely to "come together" to
'celebrate' a National Transgender Celebration and if such 'diversity'
promoted by the Church of England in Manchester would draw Muslims.
13. Theresa May rules out forcing Church of England to perform gay
marriages
http://www.virtueonline.org/theresa-may-rules-out-forcing-church-england-perform-gay-marriages
Prime Minister Theresa May has ruled out forcing the Church of England
to perform same-sex marriages, saying she respects the "deeply-held
views" many Anglicans have on the matter.
14. CHEXIT:- Staying, leaving or consecrating new bishops
http://www.virtueonline.org/chexit-staying-leaving-or-consecrating-new-bishops
The Church Society, through its Director Dr Gatiss, has offered an
enthusiastic case for staying in the Church of England as opposed to
leaving it. But the choices before us are less binary than that. Some
have left already, but for those who stay, the terms on which they stay
need to be altered, writes Gavin Ashenden.
15. Jesmond Vicar warns against trying to discipline curate ordained
bishop of breakaway church
http://www.virtueonline.org/jesmond-vicar-warns-against-trying-discipline-curate-ordained-bishop-breakaway-church
A Jesmond Parish Church has been publicly reminded of the legal position
after their assistant curate was consecrated bishop by a breakaway
Church in South Africa. However the Vicar, the Rev. David Holloway,
responded by warning of "reciprocal heresy trials" if legal action is
taken against his curate.
The curate, the Revd Jonathan Pryke, has served at Jesmond Parish
Church, in Newcastle, since 1988. He was consecrated as a "bishop in the
Church of God" by the Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Evangelical
Anglican Church of South Africa (REACH-SA) at a service in Newcastle on
2 May, a statement from the church said.

17. Justin Welby is a heretic, say breakaway conservative Anglicans
http://www.virtueonline.org/justin-welby-heretic-say-breakaway-conservative-anglicans
Justin Welby is a 'heretic' and a 'wolf in sheep's clothing', according
to the conservative Church responsible for consecrating a breakaway
bishop in Newcastle outside the authority of the Church of England. An
explosive lecture delivered at the Jesmond Conference for conservative
evangelicals earlier this year further reveals the depth of division and
distrust as traditionalists plot a splinter Anglican Church in the UK.

20. Our Lady of the White House: FLOTUS is Roman Catholic
http://www.virtueonline.org/our-lady-white-house-flotus-roman-catholic
VOL writer Mary Ann Mueller broke the story this week that Melanie
Trump, wife of POTUS is a practicing Roman Catholic. She even dressed
appropriately when she and hubby visited the Pope recently. The news
came out of the blue. She will be the first Catholic spouse of a
president to live in the White House since the short Administration
(1961-1963) of John F. Kennedy, making her the first Catholic first lady
since Jacqueline Kennedy.
21. Maybe It's Time For Some Reverse Creeping Sharia
http://www.virtueonline.org/maybe-its-time-some-reverse-creeping-sharia
If Christians wanted to take over the Middle East and turn all Muslim
nations there and elsewhere into Christian nations, how might they go
about it? What could they do to radically transform the Muslim world and
turn it into a Christian one? There are at least two main ways. The
first is pray for Muslims, befriend them, evangelize them, and lead them
to Jesus Christ. Another option is to flood these countries with
countless Christians; fill their lands with Christian migrants; and
appeal to the good will of these nations to take all these people in and
grant them full citizenship rights -- with no questions asked. You can

http://www.virtueonline.org/elderly-woman-massresistance-activist-ignites-town-and-region-questioning-gay-flag-outside-church
An elderly woman in ultra-liberal Carlisle, Mass. had the nerve to
publicly criticize the "gay" flag outside of a church in the center of
town. She caused such an inflamed reaction that it was reported in
Boston's NBC-TV evening news. 85-year old sally Naumann, a Unitarian,
refused to back down, and then, horror of horrors she inflamed leftist
reactionaries even more when she reported on the medical facts of sodomy
reported by the CDC and finished by saying that the homosexual lifestyle
should not be promoted! We need more evangelicals with the same guts to
say that. How about one or two remaining orthodox bishops in
TEC=E2=80=99s HOB standing up and saying something like that. Ain't
gonna happen.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
www.virtueonline.org
May 31, 2017
VOL is on the cusp of change and growth. For several decades, we have
been focusing mostly on The Episcopal Church, documenting the crazy
antics that pass for authentic Christianity. Every year that passed, we
thought that perhaps the craziness would end and wiser heads would
prevail. Of course that did not happen.
>From Spong to Robinson, to the approval of fornication and homosexual
marriage, TEC has gone from one lunacy to the next, denying basic
Christian doctrines, embracing pansexuality, suing churches for their
properties, spending millions of dollars on lawsuits while claiming to
be doing God's will by ludicrously and fatuously announcing His mission
to save the world. It has been difficult out satirizing the nonsense
that passes for 'the faith once for all delivered to the saints', even
as churches close, parishes run out of parishioners, funerals outnumber
baptisms and new communicants, diocesan headquarters get sold off,
cathedrals close, bullying bishops destroy parishes, priests and lives,
lawsuits continue, all the while dwindling orthodox laity and clergy are
thrown under the bus and their parishes sold off to Islamic groups and
evangelical startups.
The carnage will continue of course and won't abate till the last
orthodox priest has been strangled by the guts of the last revisionist
bishop. We are watching that play out in the Diocese of Caledonia where
an orthodox priest has been denied a bishopric by a group of revisionist
Canadian Anglican bishops because he is orthodox in faith and morals. Go
figure.
VOL is refocusing. In the coming weeks and months, we will center on the
good things happening to Anglicanism in North America and around the
world. The transition will not be instant and many of you will feel
unhappy that you won't see constant stories of the Episcopal Church's
endless sexual infidelities playing out for all the world to see. No one
really cares what the Episcopal Church does or votes for; TEC is simply
following the culture, reinforcing its Gadarene slide towards the
precipice. Exceptions might be a besotted TEC bishop killing yet another
cyclist or found in bed with a transsexual, or caught buggering boys.
Adultery still rates a mention largely because TEC is totally
hypocritical about sex.
Of course, we will not completely ignore TEC, but I will no longer
attend general conventions; there is nothing left to report on except
the inevitable whine for the church to recognize transgender
relationships, propose a resolution for trannie toilets and the hope
that one day the church will embrace a transsexual bishop in the name of
inclusion and diversity and God's love for absolutely everybody, without
the need for repentance and change. The Jesus Movement will be given
lots of play by the presiding bishop but nobody believes that will
really change anything. Lots of high-sounding words, pulpit rants, a
check on racism, (but no one knows who they are) and more guilt about
white privilege.
I will, occasionally, draw together in one or two articles the latest
screaming TEC failures like the Jesus Movement, but TEC is on the ropes
and only a fool would say otherwise. Over the next decade, thousands of
priests will retire, more and more churches will have part time and
non-stipendiary priests (already nearly 50%) serving fewer and fewer
churches as For Sale signs go up across the country. It will be a slow
but accelerating death, but death it will be.
Over the next few weeks, VOL will begin PODCASTS. We will interview the
next generation of movers and shakers - lay, clergy, bishops and
archbishops who are making a difference in the church and the world.
There are green shoots everywhere. God IS doing a new thing and VOL will
re-focus its energies bringing you the stories that make a difference.
VOL's weekly digests will also undergo change. They will be shorter and
briefer, with links to stories already written.
We live in an age of tweets (made famous by our president), and with
people's attention spans growing shorter, (144 characters now dominating
the scene) we will be even more precise in what we report.
We will continue to need your support to make these changes possible.
Most think the news writes itself and is therefore free. It doesn't and
it isn't. Our team of reporters and commentators take considerable time
and effort to bring you the news, and that will not abate any time soon.
So please support us.
