I was trying to test out virtualgl with the EGL backend but am not having any luck.  I'm using an intel i915 driver.

when i run
eglinfo /dev/dri/card0

i get
Error: no EGL devices found

is there a trick here?  or will EGL not work with i915?

Try

eglinfo egl

If that doesn’t work, then you’re out of luck. Not all EGL stacks support the device-based EGL extensions. Intel may only support EGL/X11.
