VU Vs Other Public Universities with respect to MS(CS) ADMISSION CRITERIA

Hope you are fine and doing very well in your daily routine.
While checking for admission requirements for MS(CS) in different Universities in Pakistan, I have come to know that following are 6 Public Sector Universities that are offering MS/M.Phil Programs to their regular students along with proper research facilities with an Admission Criteria less than VU.
NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (NUST) ISLAMABAD

ELIGIBILITY-CRITERIA
NUST is offering contemporary mix of Masters (MS) Programs in Engineering (IT), Natural Sciences, Medical & Applied Biosciences, Business & Social Sciences Disciplines. Eligibility Criteria for each is given under:
General Eligibility:
· Sixteen years of schooling or 4 years (minimum 124 credit hours) education after HSSC/A' Level in relevant discipline.
· GAT (General) conducted by NTS with atleast 50 accumulative score or GRE (General) conducted by ETS, USA,
Computer Software Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science
· BE in any discipline. OR
· MCS / BCS (4 years) / BIT (4 years) or MSc in (Statistics / Physics / Applied Physics / Mathematics / Electronics) with BIT / BCS.
Computation Science & Engineering (Modeling & Simulation)
Masers/Bachelors in any discipline of Engineering, Natural Sciences, Computer Science / Software Engineering, Operation Research, Defense / Strategic Studies, Management Sciences.
Information Security
· BE in Electrical / Telecommunication / Computer Software/ Computer System/ Electronics / Industrial Electronics / Electrical & Communication / Avionics / Communication Technologies. OR
· MCS / MIT / BCS (4 years) / BIT (4 years) or MSc in (Statistics / Physics / Applied Physics / Mathematics / Electronics) with BCS / BIT.
Innovative Technologies in Education
16 years of education from HEC/PEC recognized institute in Computer Science / Information Technology / Basic Sciences OR BE in any discipline.
Note:
· Candidates who are awaiting final results can also apply provided their CGPA/Percentage till last semester is > 2.0/55% and they can submit their final result before commencement of classes.
· Percentage will only be valid of CGPA is not mentioned on transcript.
· NUST will only accept GRE/ GMAT Score received direct from ETS/GMAC USA.
· NUST code to receive GRE and GMAT score direct form ETS/GMAC, USA is 7014 and 7035 respectively.
QUAID-E-AZAM UNIVERSITY ISLAMABAD

Eligibility:
To be eligible for admission to MPhil, a candidate:-
i. Shall possess an MA/MSc/BS (Hons) degree or its equivalent in the relevant discipline.
ii. Shall have obtained 1st Division in MA/MSc degree or its equivalent or in BA/BSc but no 3rd division in MA/MSc or BA/BSc or at least 55% marks in BS (Hons) and all other 4 to 5 years Degrees.
iii. In case of 3rd division in FA/FSc, the candidate should have 1st division in both BA/BSc and MA/MSc or its equivalent degree or at least 60% marks in BS (Hons) and all other 4 to 5 years Degrees.
iv. Any of the conditions (ii)–(iii) above may be relaxed by the Vice-Chancellor in case of a teacher of a university/college and an employee of a research organization.

Eligibility Criteria
· MS/MPhil, MS/MPhil leading to PhD: The candidates having second division or CGPA ≥ 2.00 out of 4.00 in MA / MSc / LLB / 4–Year BS program / B-Pharmacy / Pharm-D / MBBS / BDS / BSc Engineering (16-year education; with 124 -136 credit hours ) degree in the relevant subject or equivalent from HEC recognized Institutions shall be eligible for admission.
· Provided further that those candidates who have secured 2.5 ≤ CGPA < 3.00 in MS/MPhil course work of 24 credit hours may also apply for admission to PhD program, subject to attainment of CGPA ≥ 3.00 in one-two courses of MS/MPhil level to be offered by this University to improve their grades. The candidate has to study said courses along with PhD level course work. Failing to attain the GPA ≥ 3.00 will render the admission cancelled automatically, irrespective of any achievement in PhD course work.
· The GAT-General conducted by NTS with a minimum 50% cumulative score will be required to have passed at the time of admission to MS/MPhil program.
FEDERAL URDU UNIVERSITY OF ARTS, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

MS Computer Science (Evening) (2 years, 4 semesters)
BS(CS) 4years degree program (minimum 130 credit hours ) minimum CGPA 2.5 out of 4.00 or MCS or MSc Computer Science with minimum 50% marks or 16 years Mathematical Science graduates are eligible but they have to cover deficiency. GAT (General) with minimum 50% score).
PIR MEHR ALI SHAH ARID AGRICULTURE UNIVERSITY RAWALPINDI

Duration:
The minimum of four semester duration programme after MCS/MIT/BCS (Hons)/BS(CS)/BS(IT)(four years program) degree or equivalent
Admission eligibility:
1. A person holding MCS/MIT/BCS (Hons)/BS(CS)/BS(IT)(four years program) from any recognized University/Institute with at least second division or its equivalent.
2. Gat (General) test must be passed with 50 marks
3. Admission will be on open merit basis
UNIVERSITY OF GUJRAT
MS Computer Science
Starts in: Spring Semester Location: Hafiz Hayat Campus Duration: 2 years
Session: Morning/Weekend
Admission Requirement
§ BS or MSc in any of the following Computing domain: (CS, IT, SE, IS, CE)
§ Engineering Domains (Telecommunication/Metatronics/Electronics/Electrical)
§ BS Mathematics
Note: - Department can suggest Deficiency courses.
Along with these Universities, there are so many other Public Sector Universities that have low admission criteria than VU.
VU Admission Criteria for MS(CS) CGPA 2.50 Out of 4.00 is nearly equal to PAKISTAN INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & APPLIED SCIENCES (PIEAS) which is the top most Engineering University of Pakistan providing its MS Students PKR 25,000 Per Month as stipend, Provide Fellowship in Top Research Institutions of Pakistan, and after completing Degree, adjust them in any of these institutions.
One Issue that may be asked is HEC Policy, I want to clear it all of that HEC imposed no restrictions on MS Admission. They just require CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 in MS/M.Phil for PhD.
